The conductor announced a freight train struck a pedestrian but "new crew is waiting at the site to clear the train". So, we're stalled in Pomona California.

Due to odd quirk of AZ skipping daylight time, I get to LA time sooner. Now only 90 minutes to the AMTRAK prix fixe dinner. Already thinking of the lemon dessert.

Slept through San Antonio

The delay leaving New Orleans was caught up between Houston and San Antonio, Texas. Unfortunately I never woke up during the 2 hour layover. <sigh>

Stopped over the mighty Mississippi River

There is a freight train ahead of the Sunset Limited that stretches as far as I can see. Right now we're halted over the river.

Full train. Family group of 20+ people traveling to AZ. I'm in seat 42 from now until Wednesday morning.

Just before midnight. Had a few bourbons at the Quartz Bar "open until 6 am" which fits the schedule of 9 am departure from Union Station, New Orleans, LA. Just had a super breakfast at Leni's Cafe on Baronne Street. Perfect diner counter meal with a hot sausage po boy to go. I'll be a hit at lunch on the train to LA. Side trip to the grocery next door and then off to ride the rails.

3 hour delay. Reminder: die on DoT. 😉

Our train, #19 Crescent 🌙, was delayed 3 hours by a passenger dying between boarding and leaving the station. Paramedics and police were fine until they died. Now? We're waited for the coroner, unfortunate biological contaminates, and new railcar in an hour or so. Three hour delay. After the train left the station we got a snack and drink for the delay. Thanks.

Another hour. They're replacing the coach railcar

So, the crescent 🌙 #19 from DC had a "medical emergency" that became "we're waiting for the coroner". Now the plan is "get a car from the depot and swap it out. Maybe an hour?"

Like any recent train ghost isn't in the waiting area next to me.

Just a bit late. We left Columbia at 6 am and arrived DC after 5 pm.

Another decade, different travels.

 This time is a 30 day, 10 segment AMTRAK pass. I bought it on sale at Union Station, DC for $299 cash. Tonight I take a bus from Augusta,GA, USA to Columbia, SC, USA. In the early morning I catch a train back to DC arriving at Happy Hour!
